The Blue House
B&B accommodation the perfect place to rest, relax and rejuvenate….
The Blue House is the perfect place to rest, relax and rejuvenate. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful vistas in the Grampians with views of Mt Cole, Mt Buangor and Mt Langi Ghiran just outside the front door.
Located at Mountainside Wines, a vineyard and winery at Warrak, 20 minutes east of Ararat, The Blue House started life as the local post office. It was transported to the property in the ‘90s and has been refurbished. It is a self-contained cottage with a queen bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and wood fire.
During your stay visitors to The Blue House can enjoy a vineyard and winery tour followed by a tasting of wines made at the winery on the property.
With its own entrance, The Blue House is secluded and quiet. As television and internet access is not available peace and serenity is assured.

“Newer still is Mountainside Wines. To find this most personal of boutique wineries, you must seek it, huddled at the foot of Mt Cole in Warrak, far from any major roads.
Tastings and platters can be enjoyed at a table among the viognier vines, or on cushions and blankets thrown down anywhere on the property.
About a dozen steps from the cellar door, but totally hidden from it, is the Blue House, once the Warrak post office but now a secluded, self-contained, bed and breakfast.
It is a gorgeously quiet place to stay, so hidden that there is no phone or internet signal and no TV reception. As evening falls and mist settles in the valley, there is just the chatter of cockatoos and the distant bleat of sheep.
It is a rural idyll flavoured with tannins, perfect for a digital detox and a wine influx.”
We spent the afternoon playing cards and drinking wine on the deck taking in the beautiful scenery.
If you’re lucky you may see a pack of wild Victorian brumbies or maybe they were just sheep either way it was still beautiful.
The hosts were really lovely and accommodating, the house was clean and tidy. There was a little bucket of kindling which made lighting the fire really easy. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was modern. A Perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a peaceful weekend away. The 2013 Shiraz is really good too!
The Blue House is an excellent place to stay for a proper Victorian country experience.
The vineyard is very peaceful and even comes with a wine tasting session for those interested in sampling the fruits of Jane and Shane’s hard work.
We stayed here as part of a visit to the nearby Grampians national park. Recommended.“
Nicely decorated. We were there when the weather was rather cold. We warmed up the place with the wood stove. It added a feeling of cosiness. (There is also an electric radiator).
The owner was wonderful. She gave us a tour of the premises where they make wine.
The cottage being far from Ararat, we had to buy groceries and cook for dinner and it was fine. No tv, no wifi: 2 great evenings reading and talking. Just what we wanted and we loved it.” Dominique, Canada
